For the past year or so I have always held a very optimistic view of the economy and the real estate market here in Manchester NH. I have been a believer that the glass is always half full not half empty.
I know that where you have population growth you will have economic growth in all facets. Southern NH has a good mix of services, Research and Development, defense and government. With this as an offering to fill future jobs it might be likely that folks would move here to take advantage of these opportunities. With the last several weeks being a whirlwind of economic events, it may be time for me to get real with my assessments of what is about to happen. For this I feel obligated to write and report my findings and comparisons.
New Hampshire is facing a reduction in it's population count. Currently it is not fast or furious like a tornado storm but rather a small trickle of exiting. The mere fact that it is happening is different than what we have seen in many years. We are not creating jobs, the pay scale is dwindling, and the young adult worker cannot easily enter the work force and sustain themselves. In the real estate world without people needing homes, homes will continue to sit on the market until this vital part of our economy changes.
As the leaves change
so does the economic colors of the picture of New Hampshire.
